Every year
and every semester SAE MO-KX recruits young men and turns them into true gentlemen.
Since our founding in 2006 we have continued this tradition of year long
recruitment including a spring pledge class. This year is no different. Spring
2012 witnessed another pledge class entering our noble order. Xi pledge class
is an extremely large class for a spring class and we have huge expectations for
them. This new pledge class spans various majors and ages including an Ex- Marine
who served 8 years with the Corps.Written by Brandon Lewis

Epsilons decision to adopt the portion of Rockhill Rd. from 51st street to 60th street has been
a re-warding choice made by our previous philan-thropy chairman, Eric Rist. He
as well as the chapter thought it would be an excellent idea to better the
community through this. The Adopt- A-Street program is de-signed for
organizations who want to improve Kansas City by keeping our streets clean.
Through our monthly cleaning of Rockhill Rd. we are keeping both a very
important street on our campus clean as well as the portion of the street that
runs directly in front of our chapter house. The Adopt-A-Street program has
been an exceptional addition to our multiple community service projects
throughout our time as a chapter at UMKC. Our chapter has been very involved in
our community and realizes the importance of giving back to the community that
we belong to. Last year alone our chapter completed over 650 hours of community
service. Thanks to Sigma Alpha Epsilons involvement in the Kansas City area, many
community service organizations have come to see the benefits of having our
chapter in the community. I personally feel a sense of fulfillment when we are
able to get all of our members out to a community service event, such as
cleaning up Rockhill Rd. and see all of our members passion and commitment to serving
the community.

Every year you can always expect certain things to occur. Fall always brings recruit-ment, Spring always brings formal and Paddy Murphy week and February always brings MO-KXs favorite re-gional director, Darren Aber-nathy. Darren has served as Dennis Regions regional di-rector for the last several years and has made several unofficial and official stops to UMKC. This visit, early in February, was part of Darrens swing through Missouri and Kansas checking on chapters and completing official chap-ter inspections. These visits consist of two days of one-on-one meetings and between Brother Aber-nathy and individual officers, small group meetings with the executive council, and a large group meeting and workshop with the entire chapter. These meeting with officers check to make sure they are not only completing the tasks assigned to the them but pushing the men to exceed the require-ments of office. The whole chapter meeting and workshop often have to deal with a spe-cific topic. This visit our discus-sion was on Risk Management, especially the dangers of high risk drinking in our fraternity chapters. This visit was one of just a number of evaluations the MO-KX chapter gets from our na-tional office, regional office, and province office. MO-KX has al-ways done exceedingly well on these evaluations. In our his-tory we have never received a score below 90% on any of our evaluations. This visit was no different. MO-KX actually received the highest grade it has ever received, scoring a 99.5%. This grade reflects nearly perfect scores in all 12 categories of evaluation. This score represents the pinnacle of SAE at MO-KX over the last 5 years. Looking forward I can only assume based on our continued good work that our exceptional scores will continue.Written by Brandon Lewis
